Our Health – Our Responsibility!
We live in a time when everyday professional strain causes a series of physical and mental problems and every disease may result in insurmountable problems in professional and private life. Target oriented preventive and restorative rehabilitation programmes are designed for preserving health and preventing disease. They are carried out individually on modern premises of the Health Centre of Terme Čatež, under expert supervision of specialised doctors (physiatrists, orthopaedic doctors, neurosurgeons and rheumatologists), kinesiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, masseurs and physical education teachers. The programmes are supplemented by various physical activities outdoors, in the fitness studio and in the Sports Centre. At Terme Čatež, healing thermal water forms an important part of all programmes. In addition to bathing on doctor's advice you can use numerous pools throughout the year to gain strength for relaxation and overcoming of everyday pressures.
Preventive programme for athletes
Preventive programme for athletes is designed for athletes exposed to utmost strain during exercises and competitions, ever more frequently leading to injuries because of inadequate conditioning. It does not suffice to make them fit for everyday moderate physical activity, as they need to be prepared for the highest exertion due to sports training and competition. The purpose of the programme is to adopt a proper approach to physical activity, adjust the strain to individual's ability and reduce the risk of sports injuries by proper exercise planning.
The programmes are performed using state-of-the-art isokinetic and diagnostic equipment and involve a specialised physiatrist, kinesiologist, physiotherapist, masseur and physical education teacher.
Preventive programme for improving body posture
Owing to a specific life style (sitting at school and at home, lack of physical activity) children and youth every more frequently suffer from postural deficiencies, such as kyphosis, scoliosis and excessive lordosis. Long-term poor posture results in degenerative changes of the joints, ligaments, muscles, and pain. Preventive programme for improving body posture is organised in the afternoon and you may participate whether you have been approved by the HIIS reimbursement of accommodation and treatment costs or only treatment costs.
Restorative rehabilitation programme after knee surgery
Restorative rehabilitation programme after knee surgery involves several months' rehabilitation post knee joint surgery, including reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, reconstruction of lateral ligaments, cartilage transplantation, patellar instability surgery, meniscus suturing and removal. It takes months before the patient having a surgical treatment has recovered his form. All these procedures result in rapid deterioration of the femoral muscle, mainly the four-headed quadriceps. They also destroy the muscle strength balance of knee flexors and extensors, due to which the injury may recur. Further recovery, i.e. restorative rehabilitation is needed after early rehabilitation. An essential element of the programme is dynamic testing of muscles and muscle groups using state-of-the-art Biodex isokinetic system and ultrasound. Ultrasound is a modern non-invasive dynamic examination of soft tissues of joints and muscles, used to identify any pathological changes of muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Restorative rehabilitation programme after a stroke
Restorative rehabilitation programme after a stroke is of great help to the patient during recovery after a stroke, which is a long-term process. Early rehabilitation is followed by exacting body strengthening and restoring the highest possible quality of patient's life to help the patient become as independent as possible. A restorative rehabilitation programme is of great value in this phase. Stimulating environment, premises free from architectural obstacles and long-term experience of our therapists guarantee successful treatment.
Restorative rehabilitation programme after spinal injury
Spinal injury requires long-term treatment. The restorative rehabilitation programme after spinal injury helps the patient to overcome the consequences and get prepared for everyday life.
Restorative rehabilitation programme for degenerative skeletal changes
Degenerative skeletal changes cause mobility problems and hinder everyday tasks. For these problems we have developed a special restorative rehabilitation programme for degenerative skeletal changes that does not cure the degenerative changes, but mitigates their effect and improves the patient's well-being.
Restorative rehabilitation programme for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients
Restorative rehabilitation programme is designed for patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis, chronic rheumatism affecting the spine and often joints of extremities, which is not curable. Disease progression can be delayed by proper therapy.
Programme for general body fitness
Longer life expectancy brings about more chronic and degenerative diseases. Programme for general body fitness is designed for persons who suffer from chronic fatigue due to specific job or conditions of living.
Restorative rehabilitation programme for paraplegics and tetraplegics
Because of specific way of life in a wheelchair and lack of physical activity, paraplegics and tetraplegics need therapy to preserve health. This is provided by the restorative rehabilitation programme for paraplegics and tetraplegics. Paraplegia is characterised by severe weakness or paralysis of the lower part of the body, while tetraplegia is partial or complete paralysis of all extremities. Both conditions are often accompanied by muscle spasms, shivering and chronic pain. Guests are staying at the hospital department in the Čatež Hotel, which is connected with the Health Centre and pools with thermal water. The healing effect of thermal water is very beneficial for restorative rehabilitation of paraplegics and tetraplegics.
Čatež Hotel, Health Centre and pool complex at the Čatež Hotel have no architectural obstacles and are accessible to mobility impaired and the disabled.
Restorative rehabilitation programme for cerebral palsy
Rehabilitation and restorative rehabilitation programmes for cerebral palsy can greatly contribute to patient's re-integration in active and productive life. Cerebral palsy is a permanent motor disorder resulting from neurological defect. Owing to impaired motor abilities patients spend most of the day in a wheelchair. Halliwick and Bobath therapies, practiced by a neurophysiotherapist, form the essential components of the programme and are upgraded by bathing in healing thermal water. The healing effect of thermal water is very beneficial for restorative rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy. Restorative rehabilitation encompasses the main elements of passive exercises to preserve fitness and thus maintain good mental condition of the patient.
